Semi-retired. I have worked as a teacher, commercial pilot, advertising and marketing manager as well as North American Operations Mgr at the Ernst & Young Center for Business Knowledge. I am now on Geauga County (Ohio) Board of Friends of CASA, (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children also known as guardian ad litum).
Three years at Belknap and loved all of them (’68, ’69, ,70). Student council were the only pics I made it into for the yearbooks, but was on the baseball team, soccer team, Belknapian, radio club and astronomy club. Favorite moments were sailing down the Charles River in a GE bathtub and being “detained” by the local police and Coast Guard (jurisdiction issues, I guess) for “Greens for Graduation”. I recall being both amused and thrilled that we were on TV. I will be posting some pics later from and old “Belknapian” I have saved.
I fondly remember Woodbridge House, Kahle House and Dane House (where the food was), my dorm-mates, especially John Gray, Jim (Frog) Barrett, Jim Ballard and others playing Hearts and chatting about existentialism. We also went up to LaSallette to debate religion with the “brothers” up there halfway up “the Hill””. On campus and off campus football games and the girls of Coe House, Linda Minor and Paul Poor especially. Tobogganing down Red Hlll skit area in the pitch dark night. John Gray and Mike Love in the kitchen giving out “extras”.
All great times and good people at the school. I often boast of the “pedigree” of our instructors. And to think that the national test in meteorology had 4 Belknap students in the top 10 nationally was great!
Most frustrating time for me at Belknap was the phonics portion of English class trying to convince others that my mid-west pronunciation of Cuba was more correct then the New England “Cuber”.
