Ken Samuels, 78, a year-round resident of Southport at Mashpee, the active adult community since 2015, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of August 19, 2024.
Ken was born in northern New Jersey and lived in Hoboken, North Bergen and Rutherford most of his life. He graduated from North Bergen High School, where he played varsity football. He graduated from Belknap College in Center Harbor, New Hampshire, in 1968.
Ken’s long and successful career as a sales representative of plastic and laminated products used in many industries, principally for DAF Products, took him across the country and into Canada, where he knew every road, every gasoline station and every good place to eat! He never fully retired, and was still planning his next trip when he died,
Ken is survived by Laura, his loving wife of 45 years; their devoted son and daughter-in-law Brian and Megan; two grandchildren who were the joy of his life, Wyatt and Izzy; lifelong friend and brother-in-law Mick Terrone and his wife Susan of Oxford, Maryland; a niece Jocey Terrone; and dear cousins Marilyn Merrigan, Craig and Lisa Merrigan and Susanne Merrigan, all of South Jersey.
He was an active and enthusiastic participant in the Southport lifestyle—serving as president of the Woodworkers Club and playing for Tennessee, his beloved shuffleboard team. He greatly enjoyed Cape Cod and all it had to offer—its backroads and beaches; whale watching; Cape Cod Baseball League; summer theater; Seafood Sam’s, and so much more.
Kenny was respected and loved by many. His kindness and sense of humor will be missed by all who experienced his sweet and loving personality.
Funeral will be private. No flowers or offerings, please.
